LACTATE THRESHOLD TESTING (BIKE & RUN) - $149

Knowing your lactate threshold is extremely important for both training and racing. Performing at or beyond this threshold results in the accumulation of lactate in the body, which quickly leads to increased fatigue and decreased performance.

This testing requires taking tiny blood samples over a range of intensities and identifies the heart rate, pace or power of your lactate threshold. Using research quality analysers, we ensure that the data is the most reliable that you can get. This information can then be used to establish pacing for your threshold training sessions and be invaluable in setting race plans.

Following the testing session, the data will be analysed and clearly explained to you, empowering you with the knowledge of how to set your personal training zones and intensities.

VO2 MAX TESTING (BIKE & RUN) - $219

V̇O2 max is the gold standard endurance exercise assessment as it measures your ability to use oxygen in aerobic energy production. Like lactate threshold testing, V̇O2 max testing is very important for exercise prescription and assessment of training progress. Compared to the two thresholds obtained in a lactate threshold test, a V̇O2 max test will provide you with your pace/power, heart rate and V̇O2 at each of 3 key thresholds of endurance performance.

The test requires you to wear a mask while exercise to measure the concentration of oxygen that you are using. The mask does not restrict airflow and you are free to talk during the test. You will start exercising at a low intensity and the test gets progressively harder until you reach your V̇O2max.

The testing process is similar to a lactate threshold test, but there’s no blood sampling, the stage lengths are shorter and the test will conclude at a higher intensity. As with the lactate threshold testing, all data will be clearly explained and afterwards you will be provided with personalised training zones.
